Abstract

PURPOSE: To compensate the nonlinear characteristics due to secular change, by picking up a part of an input/output signal, commonly using a phase detector or an envelope detector or the both, and feeding back the detected output to a precircuit.
CONSTITUTION: A part of an input signal of a directional coupler DCP1 is fetched, and the output of a directional coupler DCP2 is coupled at a 3 dB hydrid circuit HYB via an attenuator ATT and a phase shifter PS1. The circuit HYB forms a phase detector PD, and the rectified output is DC-amplified DCA and applied to a phase shifter PS2 forming a pre-circuit. The output of the phase shifter PS2 is applied to a main amplifier MA via the hybrid circuit HYB. Thus, in a microwave band, a phase shifter with very less secular change can be achieved. Further, the distortion in amplitude itself or amplitude and phase can be corrected by using an envelope detection in place of the phase detector, or using the both.
