Abstract

PURPOSE:To rotate back up rolls of a V-shaped taper respectively independently, to decrease difference in peripheral speeds, and to prevent the seizure flaws on account of slips by trisecting said backup rolls abutting on the vertical work rolls of which the diameters are made smaller from the center toward both ends. CONSTITUTION:A backup roll 7 is trisected to rolls 12, 13, 14, and the central split roll 12 is formed into an inverted taper shape of which the diameter is made larger from the center toward both ends. The split rolls 13, 14 at both ends are formed respectively into an inverted taper shape of only the one direction. A space DELTAh is provided between the rolls 12, 13, 14, which are pivotally supported by a roll shaft 3 by means of respectively separate bearings 15, 16, 17. Hence, the rolls 12, 13, 14 rotate respectively indepedently, thereby decreasing the differences in peripheral speeds.
