Abstract

PURPOSE: To generate the shearing force in the rolling direction, and to execute the rolling work with high draft percentage under a light rolling force, by employing the roll with conical drum surface for the reducing roll.
CONSTITUTION: The reducing rolls 11, 12, process the same conical drum surface; respective apexes of cones are located opposite to each other in respect of the roll. Backup rolls 13, 14, are the conical rolls whose cone shape possesses the conical apex common with that of reducing rolls 11, 12, being supported by the backup rolls 13, 14. The reducing roll chocks 15, 15', 16, 16', and the backup roll chocks 17, 17', 18, 18', are respectively installed with angle of inclination as same as that of respective roll axes. The torque given by the driving motor M is transmitted to reducing rolls 11, 12, through the pinion 25 and the spindle 24. According to this construction, the two-dimensional shearing force is impressed on the material, so that the rolling work with high draft percentage can be executed by a rolling load lighter than that of the conventional method.
