Abstract

PURPOSE: To feed sludge from the lower side of a vessel while inhibiting its adhesion onto a cooling pipe and to shorten a sludge-feed period, by arranging a lower chamber at the lower end of the thawing vessel, connecting a sludge- feed pipe to the lower chamber and attaching a sludge-discharge valve to the bottom surface of the lower chamber.

CONSTITUTION: When liquid sludge fed into the main body 1 of a vessel is frozen, a sludge-feed valve 16 is closed and a washing valve 14 is opened. Washing water is then fed into the vessel through a washing water pipe 12 to discharge unfrozen sludge from a lower chamber 10. Thereafter, the washing valve 14 is closed, and the frozen sludge in the vessel main body 1 is thawed and discharged through a sludge-discharge valve 11. When new sludge is to be fed, the sludge-discharge valve 11 is closed, the washing valve 14 is opened, and washing water is injected through a washing water pipe 15 to wash and discharge residual sludge. At this time, a drain pipe 13 is washed also. Thereafter, the washing valve 14 is closed, and a sludge-feed valve 16 is opened to introduce sludge. Consequently, the sludge is fed from the drain pipe 13 into the vessel main body 1.
