Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the total efficiency of a waste water treatment equipment by a method wherein a common discharge pipe having branched pipes for sludge discharge and treated water discharge is provided together with a means to detect the presence or absense of sludge, at the lower part of a settlement treating tank, and sludge or water discharge is controlled by a specific means.
CONSTITUTION: Below a settlement treating tank 1, are installed a common discharge pipe 2 having branched pipe of a sludge discharge pipe 5 with discharge valve PV2 and a treated water discharge pipe 3 with discharge valve PV1, a sludge detection sensor SS, and timers TR1 and TR2. When the sensor SS detects sludge, the timer TR1 maintains the current condition during a time (for the boundary between the sludge and treated water to reach the branch point B), then the timer TR1 causes the valve PV2 to open and the valve PV1 to close, so that the sludge is discharged into tank 6. When the sensor SS detects the absence of sludge, the timer TR2, after the predetermined time, causes the valve PV1 to open and the valve PV2 to close, so that treated water is discharged to tank 4. In this manner, the following process load is decreased and results in enhanced efficiency in the entire waste water treatment equipment.
