PURPOSE:To obtain a steel belt excellent in weldability by hot rolling steel composed of specific composition such as C, Si and the like at a specific temperature annealing the cold-rolled steel belt with a specific draft at a specific temperature after it is wound up under a predetermined temperature, and carrying out skin pass thereafter. CONSTITUTION:Steel composed of 1-0.2% C, 0.6-1.5% Si, 0.3-0.8% Mn, 0.4-0.9% Cr, 0.1-0.2% Mo, <=0.05% of Sol. Al, and remaining % Fe and impurities is hot rolled under >=850 deg.C finishing temperature, and after winding up at 650 deg.C, cold rolled above 35% draft. Thus obtained steel belt is annealed at 580- 660 deg.C and then subjected to skin pass. Thus high strength thin steel belt having excellent weldability is obtained.
