Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled stainless steel with superior heat absorbing and radiating characteristics by specifying the relation between the Ti and Si contents of stainless steel contg. a predetermined amount each of specified elements.
CONSTITUTION: This stainless steel consists of, by wt., 12.0W20.0% Cr, 2.0W6.0% Al, 0.1W0.90% Si, 0.01W0.45% Ti, 0.001W0.050% Ca and one or more kinds of rare earth metals, ≤0.03% C, ≤1.0% Mn and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities. The relation between the Ti and Si contents of the steel is restricted as follows: the Si content is arbitrarily selected from the above-mentioned range and is adjusted to 0.50W0.90% when the Ti content is ≤0.35% and over 0.35W0.45%, respectively. Ti spoils the heat absorbing and radiating capacity of the steel, Si copes with the spoiling action of Ti, and Ca and rare earth metals accelerate the coping action of Si.
