Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress rise of the residual potential of the picture background part of the photosensitive material to obtain a stable picture quality, by balancing the intensity between primary charging and secondary charging automatically according to their intensities.
CONSTITUTION: Respective shield electrodes 10 and 10' and discharge electrodes 11 and 11' of the first and the second corona charging equipments and power sources 12 and 12' to apply a voltage to these charging equipments are insulated electrically from other parts. Shield electrodes 10 and 10' of the first and the second corona charging equipments are connected electrically, and one ends and the other ends of power sources 12 and 12' are connected electrically to discharge electrodes 11 and 11' and shield electrodes 10 and 10' respectively, and further, screen grid 16 is provided in the aperture part of the corotron to apply the bias voltage. By this constitution, discharge balance of the first discharging equipment can be controlled without detection, and fluctuation of the electrostatic latent image dependent upon increment of the picture background part potential, peripheral environment fluctuation, and so on can be resolved, so that a stable picture quality can be always obtained.
