Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect the purification of seawater with a good thermal efficiency in a process of brine purification using a multistage flush evaporator by a method wherein the concentrated residual brine is cooled with a low temperature fluid and then is guided to the condensation pipe bundle in the equipment.
CONSTITUTION: The seawater charged from a pump 11 is deaerated, is passed through pipe 12 and orifice 7a, and flush-evaporated in an evoporating chamber 2a. This produces temperature-decreased concentrated brine, which is then subject to repeated flush-evaporation through sequential orifices 7b, 7c. The final residual brine is not exhausted, but guided to a cooler 8 and cooled with a cold fluid such as LNG or the like. The cooled residual concentrated brine is passed through condensing pipe bundle 5cW5a. In this manner, the cold heat energy that the residual concentrated brine holds is used and further cooled, and this heat energy is used as a heat source for the flush-evaporation. The process thus eliminates the need for heat source and chemicals for preventing scale deposition.
