Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the cut-off response characteristic of a load limitation clutch, by inserting a spring between an output shaft and a clutch housing and providing a valve, which is opened by a contact between the output shaft and clutch housing, in a fluid discharge path.
CONSTITUTION: A spring is interposed between an output shaft 2 and a clutch housing 4. A valve 13 controlled by the inner wall 11a of the clutch housing 4 is provided in the fluid discharge path formed in the output shaft 2. When an overload torque is exerted onto the output shaft 2, the output shaft 2 and clutch housing 4 are brought into contact while compressing a spring 25 and the valve 13 is moved rightwards. This causes fluid discharge paths 16, 17 to communicate with each other. Thus, the fluid in a piston chamber 8 is instantaneously discharged to the exterior through fluid discharge paths 16, 17, 18. Thus, clutch plates 5, 6 are separated from each other and the input shaft 1 is cut off from the output shaft 2.
