Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize an electric discharge machining by on/off control of the train of processing pulses. CONSTITUTION:An oscillator 8 to generate train of machining pulses according to the machining condition and an oscillator 9 to generate pulses for on/off control of said trains of pulses are connected through an AND gate 10 to a switch 6 connected with power source 7. A train of pulses given a necessary duration and interval by the oscillator 8 and pulses generated by the oscillator 9 corresponding to the number of vibration are put into the AND gate 10, where the logical product is calculated, and pulses controlled interruptedly are generated and fed to the switch 6. The processing pulses generated by turning on and off this switch 6 are fed to the gap between the electrode 1 and the work 5 to make discharge processing. Working chips and gases produced are removed and cleaning is made with liquid supplied anew during the off time in this interruption control. Generation of arc etc. can be thus reduced.
