Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide stable, highly efficient machining by enabling accurate machining without deteriorating workpiece surface roughness when generating discharge machining pulses, and to improve the removal of machining scraps and prevent arcing by interrupting the electrical discharge during no-pulse intervals which follow pulse groups. CONSTITUTION:Pulses are applied in a machining gap between an electrode 1 and workpiece 2 by turning a power supply 3 ON and OFF through the opening and closing of a switch 4. Pulse width and pulse intervals as set by an oscillator 5 are applied to the machining units and detected by a circuit 8. Machining scraps are removed during intervals when pulses are interrupted. Stable, highly efficient machining can be performed by setting pulse intervals to the minimum.
