Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled die exhibitive the excellent lubricity and release characteristics at high temperatures, obtained by forming the thin film of the water-soluble glass containing P2O5, B2O3 and M2O (in which, M shows the alkali metal) at a specified proportion, uniformly on the inner surface of the die.
CONSTITUTION: The phosphoric acid, etc., as the P2O5 source, the boric acid, etc., as th B2O3 source, and Na2CO3, etc., as above stated M2O source, are suitably compounded; after melting this compound according to the authorized method usually at 200W1,200°C, especially at 800W900°C, the molten compound is slowly cooled and is vitrified; hereby, the above stated water-soluble glass is prepared. This water-soluble glass is specified to contain 40W55mol% P2O5, 6W9mol% B2O3, and 30W60mol% M2O. Next, the lubricant comprising this water-soluble glass as it is or as the aqueous solution is applied to the die being heated to about 200W 800°C for serving at the forging or extruding work. Hereby, the thin molten film of the water-soluble glass is formed on the die surface. This molten film has a moderate viscosity as hundreds W thousands poise at 200W800°C, and exihibits the excellent lubricity.
