Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable continuous detection of gas concentration by converting a concentration into time data by means of the time constant circuit comprising a semiconductor gas sensor and a capacitor.
CONSTITUTION: A time constant circuit is composed of a detection element K of a semiconductor gas sensor GS and a capacitor C1. First, a transistor TR1 is energized to discharge the capacitor C1. Then, as soon as the transistor TR2 is energized, a current flows to the time constant circuit from a power source V1 through the trsistor TR2, the element K and the capacitor C1, so that the capacitor C1 is charged gradually. The time until the charged voltage reaches a given level varies in accordance with the resistance value of the element K changing according to the gas concentration. Thereby, by supplying the voltage of the capacitor C1 to the detection circuit having the give threshold level, extraction of the time data corresponding to the gas concentration is enabled, eventually allowing a continuous detection of the gas concentration.
