Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase efficiency of ozone removing and to lengthen breakthrough time by using an ozone removing material consisting of fibrous activated carbon having specified pore distribution.
CONSTITUTION: A carbide obtained by heating a material such as refined regenerated cellulose fiber etc. with low ash content is activated by heating at about 900°C for a long time in activated gaseous atmosphere containing ≥10vol% steam. Fibrous activated carbon made by this way in which total volume of pores having ≤120Å diameter is ≥0.7cc/g and volume of pores having 30W120Å diameter is 0.18W0.95cc/g, and the ratio of this volume to the volume of pores having ≤120Å diameter is ≥18% is made to sheet and formed to honeycomb shape. This is inserted in the passage of gaseous ozone and used. Since this is small in pressure loss, operation can be effected without hindrance when this is inserted in the exhaust duct attached to an electrophotographic copier.
