Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a plastic component excellent in the electric conductivity, by effecting powder molding of a mixture that has been prepared by mechanically mixing a thermoplastic powder with an electrically-conductive powder having an average particle size of up to 1/10 of that of said thermoplastic powder.
CONSTITUTION: The thermoplastic powder having an average particle size of the order of 400 to 500mμ is mechanically mixed with the electrically-conductive powder (such as carbon powder and nickel powder) having an average particle size of up to 1/10 of that of the thermoplastic powder, this mixture is preformed under a pressure of about 2t/cm2, and then the preform is subjected to heat treatment to join the adjacent particles. The particles of the electrically-conductive powder placed in the spaces between the particles of the plastic powder will form a network structure resulted from this joint by the heat treatment, and therefore the obtained component will be improved in its electric conductivity. As the powder molding is carried out using an electrically-conductive powder having a specified particle size, a high electric conductivity can be attained using a small amount of electrically- conductive powder, and further the mechanical strength cannot be lowered.
