Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the effect of removing COD in org. sewage by adding H2O2 and a material which dissociates metal ions in an aqueous soln. to the sewage having undergone ozone oxidation and allowing the same to react then subjecting the sewage to neutralization treatment.
CONSTITUTION: After sewage is subjected to ozone oxidation, H2O2 and one of the salt, oxide, hydroxide or single metal of iron, copper and aluminum which are materials to dissociate metal ions are added thereto, and Fenton oxidation reaction is allowed to take place. Thence, an alkali agent is added to the sewage to neutralize the same, after which the formed precipitate is subjected to solid-liquid separation. Then, the treated water of extremely low COD as compared to the case in which chemical oxidation treatment alone is accomplished is obtained, and the COD removal effect for the same hydrogen peroxide consumption is increased.
