Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the damage of contact portions of valve element and valve seat of a relief valve in which the valve element is pushed open to release a pressurized fluid, by keeping the pressure of force for pushing the valve element on the valve seat, lower than set pressure independently of itself.
CONSTITUTION: A valve element 1 consists of a cylinder 6 and a piston 7. An orifice 9 is provided in the bottom of the cylinder 6. The cylinder 6 and the pistion 7 are pushed toward a valve seat 2 by different springs 3, 16. When the pressure in a pipe passage 5 has risen, the piston 7 is first pushed up into contact with a stopper. When the pressure has risen further, the force of pressurized fluid acting on the cylinder 6 exceeds that of the springs 3, 16 to push up the cylinder 6 to cause relief action. Since the restoring force of the spring 16 is restricted by a descent limit stopper 13, the force of the spring 16 does not act to push the valve element 1 on the valve seat 2.
