Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a good positive picture from negative and positive originals, by insulating the charging device from other devices at the regular copying time and by grounding the charging device at the reversal copying time. CONSTITUTION:Reversal copying to obtain a positive picture from the negative original is explained below in the figure. The photoreceptor consisting of conductive substrate 1, photoconductive layer 2, and insulating layer 3 is charged negatively by the first charger 4 and has positive charge discharged by charger 8 to erase negative charge. Switch 12 is turned on. The bias potential approximately equal to the potential of the nonexposed part of the photoreceptor is applied to developing cylinder 14 from power source 17 to stick conductive magnetic toner 15 to the exposed part. In case that a positive picture is obtained from the positive original, shields 6 and 10 of chargers are connected mutually and are connected to the other ends of respective power sources, and switch 12 is turned off. At the developing time, developing cylinder 14 is grounded or the bias voltage approximately equal to that of the exposed part of the photoreceptor is applied to stick toner 15 to the nonexposed part.
