Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a stable positive picture from negative as well as positive originals, by subjecting the photoreceptor to the first charging, the second charging, uniform exposure to light, and transfer and applying the destaticizing electric field to it before the regular copying operation when reversal copying is switched to regular copying. CONSTITUTION:Reversal copying to obtain a positive picture from the negative original is shown in the figure. The photoreceptor including insulating layer 3 is charged negatively by charger 4 and has positive charge discharged by charger 8. When a positive picture is obtained from the positive original, switch 12 is turned off in respect to chargers, and developing cylinder 14 is grounded at the developing time to expose the photoreceptor to light uniformly by front exposing lamp 28, and switch 23 is turned off, in the figure. After switching from the negative positive mode to the positive positive mode, first charging corotron 4, the second charging corotron 8, lamp 28, transfer corotron 18, and destaticizing corotron 26 are caused to act upon the photoreceptor once at least before copying in each process for positive positive reproducing.
