Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce titled composition superior in impact resistance, adhesiveness and chemical resistance and much improved in flexibility, by blending a solid epoxy resin with a solid resol type phenol resin and further with a straight-chain polyamide resin.
CONSTITUTION: 20W80wt% Solid epoxy resin is blended with 80W20wt% solid resol type phenol resin (B) having a softening temperature 70W90°C a gelation time ≥80sec at 150°C and 25W45 methylol index (e.g., a product prepared by condensing 1mol of a phenol with 1W4mol of an aldehyde in the presence of a basic catalyst and adjusting the condensate so as to meet the aforesaid conditions). 100pts.wt. Resulting mixture is further blended with 5W67pts.wt. straight-chain polyamide resin (C) (e.g., nylon 11, 12 etc.). This product is improved not only in impact resistance, adhesiveness and chemical resistance due to the addition of constituent B but also in flexibility due to the addition of constituent C, so that it is free from cracking, etc.
