Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled cast iron of high ductility and tenacity as casted, by casting molten metal of specific composition which contains C, Si, Mn, P, S and further some one of Mg, Ca or a rare earth element at a temperature appropriately higher than the liquid phase line.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal comprising 2.0W4.0% of C, 2.0W5.0% of Si, 0.001W0.30% of Mn, 0.1% or less of P, 0.04% or less of S, 0.3% or less of some one of Mg, Ca or a rare earth element in a residual state, and the balance which is Fe is casted into a metal mold at a temperature 20W140°C higher than the liquid phase line. In this case, substituting shell mold or sand mold for a part of the metal mold permits a prolonged life of the metal mold in spite of high temperature casting.
