Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the transformer low frequency and small so as to enable EL elements for a wrist watch to be driven by a method wherein a transverse effect vibrator provided with a driving terminal and longitudinal effect vibrator provided with an output terminal are attached to a hard insulation substrate and boosted by utilizing a refraction mode. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 34, 35 are fitted above and below a ceramic plate polarized in a direction of the thickness to be made the transverse effect low impedance vibrator 31, and electrodes 36, 37 are fitted at the ends on one side of a ceramic plate poralized in the longitudinal direction to be made the longitudinal effect high impedance vibrators 32. Those vibrators 31, 32 are attached on the both sides or the one side of the hard insulation substrate 33 and actuated by utilizing the refracting vibration mode, with the vibrator 32 as a driving means and the vibrator 33 as an electric generating means. The shape of the substrate 32 is allowed to be made a turning fork shape, a flat turning fork shape, an S-shape and the like, and the output can effectively be taken out because of no leakage of the electric field. Thereby, the small-sized piezoelectric transformer can be obtained which is large in a boosting ratio in the low frequency of several hundreds Hz-several tens kHz.
