Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the insertion loss for the surface acoustic wave device of three phase excitation and unidirectioality, by providing the piezoelectric thin film on the elastic substrate and conductive film selectively on it. CONSTITUTION:The comb type electrodes 26, 28 are opposed on the surface of the elastic substrate 20, the meander electrode 27 is provided between them, to form one three phase exciting section per two wave-lengths. Further, the piezoelectric thin film 21 of a given thickness is provided on it, and the conductive film 23 is placed on it by eliminating a part of the meander electrode, that is, the upper part of the meander electrode 27 independently of the three phase excitation. Since the conductive film 23 is formed by eliminating the part affecting the conversion efficiency, the efficiency is increased and the insertion loss is reduced.
