Abstract

PURPOSE:To seal the gap of a mold without a gasket by a method wherein the material of plastic is filled into a cavity formed by adhering a sealing film around the periphery of the side surfaces of two pieces of the molds, thereafter, the molds are removed from a mold holding device. CONSTITUTION:The two pieces of the molds 1, 2 which are made of glass are attached to the mold holding devices 3, 4 so that the optical surface 5, 6 thereof are opposed, thereafter, either the molds 1, 2 are contacted with each other by moving a leg 8 to make the distance therebetween zero or a spacer having a predetermined thickness is interposed to determine the distance between the molds. Subsequently, the sealing film 15 such as the tape or the like is wound around the two pieces of the molds and the tape is adhered to the side surfaces of the molds to form the cavity 16. Next, the material of plastic is filled into the cavity 16 and is hardened, thereafter, the assembled molds are taken out of the mold holding device 3, 4.
