Abstract

PURPOSE: To largely reduce the time needed for machining by a method wherein while one capstan rest is in machining, the other capstan rest selects the tool for the subsequent process.
CONSTITUTION: A spindle 23 is rotatably disposed on the left upper part of a bed 21, and capstan rests 25 and 25' mounted on a carriage 26 are longitudinally guided by means of two parallel guide bars 24. The capstan rests 25 and 25', which have the common structure to each other, are controlled so as to stop at the correct indexing position respectively. When the cutting by the tool of the rest 25 has been finished, the tool of the rest 25' reaches the machining position to perform the machining of the subsequent process. Said operations are effected by numerical control.
