Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a composite electrical contact material with superior melt-sticking resistance by internally oxidizing an Ag alloy contg. a specified amount of Cd and Cu or further contg. at least one kind of the Fe group elements.
CONSTITUTION: An Ag alloy contg. 0.5W20wt% Cd and 2.5W15wt% Cu or further contg. 0.01W2wt% at least one kind of the Fe group elements such as Fe, Co and Ni is formed into ≤1mmϕ fine grains, and the grains are internally oxidized in an oxygen atmosphere at high temp. and high pressure to prepare composite fine grains of silver-cadmium oxide-copper oxide- (iron oxide, cobalt oxide or nickel oxide). The grains are then subjected to compression, sintering, extrusion and drawing, and the resulting wire rod is riveted to manufacture an electrical contact material with superior melt-sticking resistance.
