Abstract
PURPOSE: To decrease the amount of carry out of the developing soln. and develop images with virtually no ground stains therein by filling the developing soln. in the recesses of a liquid support having projecting electrodes, disposing an electrostatic latent image support between the same and a counter electrode and applying AC-DC superposed voltage.
CONSTITUTION: Projcting electrodes 1b are formed in the recesses 1a of the top surface of a liquid holding body 1 consisting of a conductive material, and the developing soln. 2 dispersed with the toner prepd. by mixing a binder and a pigment or dye in a solvent and charged (or not charged) to a fixed polarity is filled in the recesses 1a. A counter electrode 3 is disposed by leaving a fixed spacing from the top surfaces of the projecting electrodes 1b, and an electrostatic latent image support 4 is disposed therebetween by opposing its electrostatic latent image surface to the liquid holding body 1. The DC power source 5 and AC power source 6 which are connected in series are connected to the projecting electrodes 1b and the counter electrode 3 by way of a switch 7, and if the voltage thereof is applied, the developing soln. 2 builds up near the projecting electrodes 1b, and scatter by becoming liquid drops, thereby sticking on the charged parts of the electrostatic latent images.
