Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically decide the quality of industrial products by detecting the sound generated from a manufactured industrial product and passing the sound through a frequency analyzer having a plurality of band-pass filters in order to discriminate. CONSTITUTION:The frequency patterns of the normal sound generated from a product 1 to be discriminated are previously stored in a memory unit 7, and the frequency patterns of the abnormal sound generated from a defective product are previously stored in a memory unit 8. The sound generated from the product 1 to be discriminated is detected by a detector 2, divided into frequency band components by a frequency analyzer unit 4, passed through an A/D converter unit 5 and a pre-edit unit 6 and formed into frequency patterns. These frequency patterns and all the frequency patterns of the normal and abnormal sounds stored in the memory units 7 and 8 are compared in a comparing unit 9. Thereby, discrimination between good and bad products is performed.
