Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent wind noise by providing a protrusion in the air passage at the upstream of a heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION:Cool air is introduced through an inlet 2 into a chamber 1 while being distributed to air passages 3 and 4 by a regulating door 6. The air flow in the air passage 3 tends to flow along the wall of the chamber 1 due to the linear inertia of the air and the centrifugal force applied to the air by the curved form of the air passage. A protrusion 14 formed in the air passage 3 impels the air flow toward the central part of the air passage 3 so that the air flows uniformly across the entire surface of a heat exchanger 7. Thus the air is guided to the heat exchanger uniformly over the surface without requiring any complex guide plates as used for the conventional air conditioning apparatus.
