Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce thickness of the body of an air conditioner, by disposing two fans and mating air outlet ports respectively on the bath sides of a heat exchanger for the air conditioner.
CONSTITUTION: In an air conditioner which is formed with an air inlet port 3 and two air outlet ports 2a, 2b located on the opposite sides of the air inlet port 3, there are provided a heat exchanger 4 and a couple of centrifugal or through-type fans 5a, 5b located on the opposite sides of the said heat exchanger 4 and having respectively an independent air passage consisting of the air inlet port 3 and air outlet ports 2a, 2b. Here, if these two fans 5a, 5b are turned substantially at the same speed, air passed through heat exchanger 4 is blown out to the outside substantially at the same air flow rate from both of the upper and lower air outlet ports 2a, 2b. Therefore, in case that such an arrangement is applied in a heating and cooling air conditioner of the type placed on the floor, its demerit that floor surface is colled at the time of heating operation can be solved positively. At the same time, the air conditioner can be made in a thin structure by reducing the diameter of fans 5a, 5b and thereby reducing depth A of body 1.
