Abstract

PURPOSE: To re-lay pipes buried underground easily without reduction in flow rate in pipe and without leaving prelaid pipes by a method wherein new pipes larger in aperture than the prelaid pipes are propelled along the prelaid pipe line while axially drawing out or cutting off the prelaid pipes one by one.
CONSTITUTION: First a vertical hole 3 is excavated at a point on the route of a pipe line 2 of prelaid pipes 1 buried underground, and concrete wall 4 for obtaining a reaction force for propulsion of new pipes is cast on the back side surface of the hole 3. An axial portion 1a of the pipe 1 nearest to the hole 3 is cut off, and a new pipe 5 larger in aperture than the pipe 1 is propelled along the pipe line 2 by a propeller 6 consisting of a hydraulic jack 6a and a pushing angle adjusting spacers 6b. Similarly, a portion 1b of the pipe 1 nearest to the pipe 5 is cut off and removed through the pipe 5. These steps are repeated to lay the new pipes 5 along the pipe line 2, in place of the prelaid pipes 1.
