CONSTITUTION:A blank material 3 is reversibly rolled down to a prescribed rectangular shape by means of flat passes 13 engraved to horizontal rolls 9 of a universal type slab rolling mill. The rolled material is moved in the axial direction of the rolls 9, and is subjected to plural times of reversible rolling under simultaneous screw down with round passes 12 engraved to one of the rolls 9 and vertical rolls 10 and leader passes 15 engraved to the other. According to this method, a large diameter round steel billet 4 is formed in a short time without revolving the rolled material. There is the effect for obtaining surface free from defect such as fin flaws in the formed round steel material.
