Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent cracks and breakage in a thinly formed positive electrode by forming circular pedestal in an L-shaped cross section provided at the periphery of a formed electrode by stainless steel of specific thickness. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of active positive-electrode materials such as silver monoxide, silver dioxide, manganous oxide, mercurous oxide, nickel peroxide, and the like, and conductive agents such as carbon black introduced as nesessary is set and compressed in a metal-mold frame 6 and a cylindrical frame 7 together with a circular pedestal 5 with an L-shaped cross section, thereby a formed-positive electrode 9 with pedestal whose thickness is 0.6mm and less is made. The material of the circular pedestal 5 is stainless steel and the thickness is limited within 0.005 to 0.125mm. In this constitution, even in the case that the spring elasticity of the pedestal 5 is made as small as possible and the thickness of the formed-positive electrode is 0.6mm and less, cracks or breakage due to spring back at the time of taking out of the metal mold would not be caused in the electrode 9.
