Abstract

758,953. Switch contacts. STACKPOLE CARBON CO. March 5, 1954 [March 12, 1953], No. 6481/54. Class 38(5) One, preferably the " cathode ", of a pair of D.C. contacts is formed from (a) a noble metal, e.g. silver or gold, (b) lead and (c) one of the following, viz: cadmium, bismuth, antimony, mangangese and chromium. The amount of lead is between 1 per cent and 10 per cent (preferably 2 per cent) and constituent (c) should not exceed 5 per cent. The "anode" contact may be formed from the same material or from a mixture of 20 to 70 per cent silver (preferably not over 40 per cent), 2 to 8 per cent nickel (preferably about 5 per cent) and the remainder gold.
