Abstract

PURPOSE:To speed up an apparent drying speed and enable a high speed recording by a method wherein air is forcedly suctioned from a rear surface of a porous recording paper having a good characteristic of absorbing ink and an ink absorption speed is increased. CONSTITUTION:When a recording paper 1 is reached to such a position as the ink drip 11 is injected from a recording head 10, air 5 is suctioned into a reduced pressured chamber 8 via fiber meshes to the recording paper and through small holes 6 in the surface of the platen 2, and further absorbed into a vacuum device via reduced pressure piping 4. In this case, the adhered ink is rapidly entered into a recording paper 1 in its thickness direction under a capillarity of the recording paper 1 in addition to an absorbing action of the air. As the recording paper 1, a paper having less filling material and high porosity is efficient and further such a paper as having a good ink absorbing characteristic is used.
