Abstract
PURPOSE: To cheaply briquette steel cutting chips at a relatively low temp. with low compressive force by heating the chips together with cast iron cutting chips as a binder followed by compression molding.
CONSTITUTION: Steel cutting chips and cast iron cutting chips are blended in a predetermined ratio, supplied to conveying unit 13 in primary combustion furnace 12 from supply inlet 11 together with heavy oil, and heated from the outside with furnace 12. By this heating in the presence of insufficient air cutting oil adhered to the chips is baked together with the heavy oil, and the chips are fed into rotary kiln 16 from the tip of unit 13. In kiln 16 the baked oil is fired with air supplied from air supply inlet 17 to heat chips to a predetermined temp. The heated chips are fed into secondary combustion furnace 18, where the oil, etc. are prefectly burned, and the mixed chips are heated to a temp. from the plasticizing temp. of cast iron cutting chips to that of steel cutting chips. The heated chips are then compressed with briquetting machine 21 at a high temp. to form briquettes of a predetermined size.
