Abstract

PURPOSE: To sinter fly ash at a high thermal efficiency and produce favorable aggregate, by utilizing the waste heat from a fly ash generating source when sintering pellets molded from the fly ash.

The pellets 1 are fed onto a travelling grate 3 divided into a drying and preheating zone 4, an ignition zone 5, a sintering and heating zone 6 and a cooling zone, and are converted into aggregate. Thus, lightweight aggregate having favorable physical properties is produced by effectively utilizing the heat derived from the same equipment.
