Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve refining efficiency and to reduce the cost of the equipment for addn. of Na2CO3 in desulfurization and dephosphorization of cast iron with Na2CO3, by blowing granular Na2CO3 into cast iron by use of oxidizing gas as a carrier gas.
CONSTITUTION: The branch pipe 4 of a gas-conveying pipe 3 is inserted into a reserving tank 1 for granular Na2CO3, and the top end is positioned near the rotary valve 2 of the reserving tank 1. The top end of the gas pipe 3 forms an ejector 6 under the rotary valve 2. An oxidizing compressed gas such as air is passed through the gas pipe 3 and is injected through the top end which forms the ejector 6. Granular Na2CO3 held in the reserving tank 1 is cut out by the rotary valve 2, and is blown into the cast iron contained in a closed furnace through the pipe 3 and the opening 7 of the furnace. Being granular, not briquette-shaped, the Na2CO3 is easily blown into the cast iron, exhibiting excellent effect in refining such as dephosphorization.
