Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent explosion surely, by installing plural nozzles, vertically arranged at intervals, at the wall of blast furnace shaft, and by blowing, at the time of reducing blowing out, steam and/or N2 into the furnace through the nozzles at the upper side of a descending stock line.
CONSTITUTION: Nozzle 2aW2d are installed in position A, B, C, D, arranged vertically at intervals, at the furnace wall of the shaft 13 of a blast furnace 1. The nozzles are connected respectively to a steam source 5 through cut-off cocks 4aW4d and to a N2 gas source 7 through cut-off cocks 6aW6d. At the time of reducing blowing out, the blast furnace is filled with coke to its throat, then molten iron is tapped through a tap hole 16, and water is sprayed through spray nozzles 8. When the stock line descends to a line L1 which is lower than the position A, steam is blown into the furnace through the nozzle 2a by opening the cock 4a. When H2 contained in the top gas is increased to a prescribed quantity or more, N2 is blown into the furnace by opening the cock 6a. As the stock line descends sucessively, the furnace is treated in the similar manner by introducing steam and/or N2 through the nozzles 2b, 2c, 2d.
