Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the durability of the photoconductive layer without killing the resolving power of the photoreceptor by forming an organic macromolecular insulation layer containing basic dyes on the photoconductive layer formed on a conductive substrate then forming an organic macromolecular insulation layer containing Lewis acid.
CONSTITUTION: A photoconductive layer composed of amorphous selenium through, e.g., vapor deposition, is formed on a conductive substrate. On this photoconductive layer is coated the first-insulation-layer-forming solution obtained by dissolving organic macromolecular compounds and basic dyes in an organic solvent, followed by drying, whereby the first insulation layer is formed. Thence, the second- insulation-layer-forming solution obtained by dissolving macromolecular compounds and Lewis acid, e.g., 7, 7, 8, 8-tetracyanoaquinodimethane in an organic solvent is coated thereon and is dried, whereby the second insulation layer is formed.
