Abstract

PURPOSE: To orient arbitrary liquid crystal material and give the high quality of display which is stable and colorless with time by forming orientation control films from polysilyl arylene.
CONSTITUTION: The polysilyl arylene expressed by formula I (R is alkyl, aryl, Ar is arylene) is dissolved in a solvent and is then coated on the surfaces provided with transparent conductive films 2 of polarizing plates 6 on glass substrates 1, after which it is subjected to heat treatment.
