Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the captioned alloy having the more uniform composition than that by conventional methods with good yield by packing the powder mixture of GeO2 and Ga2O3 into a plurality of small holes on a heat-resistant non-fusible substrate and treating the same through hydrogen reduction at the specified temperature, heating in an inert atmosphere, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The powders of powder GeO2 and Ga2O3 of purity 99.999wt% or more and mean grain size about 1μm are evenly mixed and the mixed powder is packed in the plural small holes (the size at which alloy particles are obtainable at about 50W100mg) provided on a heat-resistant non-fusible substrate such as of high purity graphite. Thence, it is hydrogen reduced at the fusing temperature or less (about 500W700°C) of the alloy, after which it is heated at the fusing temperature (about 1000°C) or more of the alloy in an inert atmosphere. This yields the Ge-Ga alloy particle which is extremely low in the Ga content deviation of the alloy, has no dissipation of Ga during fusing and is suited for surface treatment, etc. of silicone wafers, through simpler operations than with conventional methods.
