Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain good crystal NaHCO3 by continuously feeding a NaOH or Na2CO3 soln. having a concn. range represented by specified equations and CO2 into a perfect mixing type reactor and by reacting them at a predetermined temp. to prevent scale from attaching to the reactor.
CONSTITUTION: Aq. Na2CO3 or NaOH soln. 2 having a concn. range represented by equations I and III or II and III [where x is NaCl concn. (wt%), y is NaCO3 concn. (wt%), and z is NaOH concn. (wt%)] is preheated to about 60°C, and CO2 or CO2-contg. gas 3 is heated and humidified with hot water 4. Soln. 2 and gas 3 are then continuously fed into perfect mixing type reactor 1 in which the temp. and compsn. of a soln. are made uniform. In reactor 1 they are reacted at 40W100°C, and exhaust gas is released from exhaust pipe 6. Since sodium bicarbonate is formed without being turned into sodium sesquicarbonate, troubles such as reactor clogging due to crystal attachment are eliminated unlike a conventional method, and large crystal NaHCO3 is obtd.
