Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely turn on a light-triggered thyristor of high critical rate of rise in off- state voltage without increasing the quantity of light emitted from a light source, by appropriately amplifying a light trigger signal emitted from the light source and applying the amplified signal to the thyristor.
CONSTITUTION: A light trigger signal emitted from a light source 1 such as a limit- emitting diode is supplied to a light amplification circuit 11 through a first light guide 2. The light amplification circuit 11 comprises a PNPN-type light-emitting negative resistance element 27 and a constant voltage circuit which includes a Zener diode 24 and a capacitor 23. The light trigger signal is amplified by the light amplification circuit and then supplied to a light-triggered thyristor 13 through a second light guide 12 to turn on the thyristor to supply an output to a load 7. The light-triggered thyristor 13 of high critical rate of rise in off-state voltage can thus be surely turned on without increasing the quantity of light emitted from the light source 1. This results in raising the reliability.
