Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain contrast signal readily with a simple circuit constitution without using any differentiating circuit by holding the outputs of the odd- and even-numberth micro photoelectric elements respectively by the first, second sample holding circuits.
CONSTITUTION: The outputs from the self-scanning type photoelectric element 15 consisting of a plurality of micro photoelectric elements and scanning circuit placed in the positions equivalent to the photographing plane of lens are inputted to two sample holding circuits 18, 19 which convert these to analog waveforms. The differences of both outputs are detected with a differential circuit 20. The absolute value thereof is detected with an absolute value detecting circuit 21 and is inputted to a peak value holding circuit 22 which holds the peak value of the absolute value waveform during one scanning of the photoelectric elements. At this time, arrangement is so made that the output of the odd-numberth micro photoelectric elements are held by the first sample holding circuit 18 and the even-numberth ones are held by the second sample holding circuit 19, whereby the output differences between the adjoining micro photoelectric elements are detected and the maximum peak value output is emitted at the focusing.
