Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a focal point detector, which is operative to detect the focal point highly accurately and to easily judge in which direction the lens is to be shifted, by using the dichroic aberration of the lens.
CONSTITUTION: If the outputs of both a detector 3 receptive of a red color only and a detector 4 receptive of a blue color are fed to their respective signal processing circuits, the outputs of these circuit are varied, as shown, in accordance with the deliver of a lens 1 while having different peak positions. With this in mind, the positions of the two detectors 3 and 4 are so preset that those two outputs becoms equal when the objective lens 1 is focused. Then, when the output of the detector 3 is higher, the objective lens 1 is delivered in, whereas when the output of the other detector 4 is higher the same lens 1 is delivered out. Thus, it is possible to detect the focal point in high accuracy.
