Abstract

PURPOSE: An emulsion mix from ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and vinyl chloride or acrylic resin is foamed using a thermal decomposition type chemical foaming agent to give a flame-retardant, flexible and finely cellular structure foam with high expansion rate.
CONSTITUTION: A thermal decomposition type chemically foaming agent, a decomposition accelerator, a filler are dispersed in a thermalplastic resin emulsion mix consisting of 25W85wt% of (A) ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and 75W15wt% of at least one (A) of (a) vinyl chloride resin or (b) acrylic resin and the emulsion is foamed to give said foam. The copolymer (A) consists of 60W95wt% of vinyl acetate and 40W5wt% of ethylene and the concentration of the synthetic resin emulsion is 30W65wt% on the basis of the resins. The decomposition type chemically foaming agent has a decomposition of 120W220°C and, e.g., 3W10 parts by wt of azodicarboxylic acid amide of about 2W8μ average particle size is used per 100 parts of the resin. The accelerator is zinc oxide or so and the amount is 0.1W 5 parts.
