Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve burning quality of an engine, permitting the first suction valve only to operate at the light and intermediate load of the engine, permitting the first suction valve and the second suction valve to operate together at the heavy load, by obtaing output fitted to the load.
CONSTITUTION: When an engine is under heavy load, as the negative pressure mp in the engine suction system is lowered, a piston 17b of changeover valve 17 shuts the oil relief passage 11. Consequently lubricating oil lO flows into the cylinder chamber 3 through the check valve 9 and the oil passage 10. As oil is of incompressivility, the plunger 7 operates by swinging of rocker arm 2 due to a com 4, since the valve end 5 of suction valve 1b is pushed, the mixture int the suction passage is flowed into the combustion chamber. Meanwhile when the engine is under light and intermediate load, above negative pressure mp increase to open above passage 11, the lubricating oil lO in the cylinder chamber can be discharged through the passage 10, 11, the plunger 7 does not operate to the suction valve 1b.
