Abstract

PURPOSE: The method of deodorizing high-density gas until it becomes perfectly odorless while regenerating active carbon in the same vessel without removing the same from the inside of the vessel and exchanging the same.
CONSTITUTION: In passing the gas containing malodorous materials in the vessel packed with granular active carbon, the gas containing malodorous materials is continuously supplied in the vessel and is thereby deodorized while the regeneration operations of spraying chemical solution intermittently in the granular active carbon packed layer to let the chemical solution be impregnated in the active carbon and eluting away the product of reaction of the malodorous materials occluded in the chemical solution and active carbon and the chemical solution are being performed in the same vessel. Namely, the active carbon having wide surface areas captures gas components instantaneously in contact with the gas and the malodorous materials react with the chemical solution impregnated in the active carbon surfaces and are occluded as the product of reaction. When the greater part of the chemical solutions on the active carbon surfaces has changed to reation product, the chemical solution is again sprayed to elute the product being occluded and let the fresh chemical solution be impregnated.
